What is CLZ Barry and what does it do?

CLZ Barry is a wireless barcode scanner. It uses your phone's camera to scan barcodes, resulting in multi-digit numbers.
Then it sends those multi-digit numbers to any program on your PC or Mac, either instantly after scanning, or later in batch.

My Buddy keeps disconnecting from your server. Why?

When Barry is inactive and doesn't send barcodes to Buddy for one hour, Buddy will automatically disconnect from our server.
If you send a barcode from Barry to Buddy within that hour, the timer resets.
To reconnect, right click the Buddy icon on your desktop (Windows: bottom right, Mac: top right) and click "Connect".

I am using your [ ] Collector program to catalog my [ ].
Will CLZ Barry add [ ]s to my database?

Well, yes and no.

No, CLZ Barry does not add [ ]s to your database.
CLZ Barry is just a barcode scanner, it scans a barcode and "types" the numbers into the Barcode or ISBN box of your Add Automatically screen. That is all it does: fill in the box. Oh, and it automatically "presses" the Search Now or Add to Queue button (depending on the mode or your Add Automatically screen).
CLZ Barry is just like any other hardware barcode scanner (like the CueCat scanner or the more deluxe Opticon scanners).
It is [ ] Collector's job to use the scanned barcode to download all [ ] data from our online database and then add it to your database. CLZ Barry does not do that for you. CLZ Barry just fills the Barcode or ISBN box.

But YES, CLZ Barry is a great tool to help you add [ ]s to your database! Adding by barcode is the best way to catalog your [ ]s. No need to type titles and no need to select your specific edition from a long list of search results. Searching by barcode will instantly give you the exact edition you own.

Put your Add Automatically screen in Search Now mode, put your cursor into the Barcode or ISBN box, use CLZ Barry in Instant Mode and then magic happens.
Scan a barcode and your Add Automatically screen will instantly show you the data and image of the scanned item in its Preview Panel. All that's left to do for adding the item to your database is clicking the Add button.

Alternatively, set your Add Automatically screen to Queue Mode and you can use CLZ Barry to send multiple barcode straight to Search Queue. Either using CLZ Barry's Instant Mode (where each scan immediately adds the barcode to the Queue), or in Batch Mode (where you scan barcodes while offline and then send in one batch later). With multiple barcodes in the Queue, just click the large Search All button the right of the queue to search our online database for all entries.

Can I use CLZ Barry to add items to my
CLZ Movies / Books / Music / Comics / Games mobile iPhone/Android app?

No, that is not possible. CLZ Barry is a stand-alone app that turns your phone into an actual barcode scanner. CLZ Barry can be used together with any program on your Windows PC or MAC OS X computer, including (of course!) the Collectorz.com cataloging programs.

We will introduce adding, editing and two-way syncing features in the next major update of the other CLZ mobile apps. And of course, those new versions will also be able to scan barcodes with the camera, to add items directly to the mobile app.
However, these new versions will not be able to send barcodes directly to your PC or Mac. That is what CLZ Barry is for.

What about Blackberry, Windows Phone 7, WebOS, etc...?

Sorry, we don't have plans to bring CLZ Barry to other mobile platforms.
